Rental Assistance

Important information

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to extend MUST Ministries’ oversight of the federal emergency rental assistance program. In March, county commissioners approved allocating $4.5 million received from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to MUST Ministries to distribute relief funds to eligible residents. The funds are through the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021 legislation, which included an allocation of $25 billion to states and local governments to help with rent, utilities and other housing-related expenses. That agreement was extended Tuesday to run through March 31, 2022.
